PAULDING – Columbus Grove outscored Paulding by three points in the second quarter and made that stand up for a 45-41 Northwest Conference girls basketball victory Thursday night at the home of the Panthers.
After the teams played to a 12-12 tie through one quarter, the Lady Bulldogs bucketed 13 points in the second stanza compared to Paulding’s ten in grabbing a 25-22 halftime advantage.
Columbus Grove then picked up 13 more in the third quarter while keeping Paulding to a dozen to widen the margin to 38-34 at the end of three periods.
The visiting Bulldogs and host Panthers both scored seven in the final period to set the final margin at 45-41.
Rylee Sybert led all scorers in the contest, totaling a game high 27 points for Columbus Grove.
Angel Schneider chipped in six for the Lady Bulldogs with Kenzie King posting five and Sydney Witteborg adding four. Amy Vorst also picked up three markers for Columbus Grove.
Paulding was led by Bri Townley, who posted a double-double with 20 points and a dozen rebounds in the contest.
Chelsi Geisige (six), Sydney McCullough (five), Jalynn Parrett (four), Audrey Geisige (three) and Janae Pease (three) rounded out the Lady Panther scorers.
The Lady Panthers also got two assists and three rebounds from Chelsi Geisige while Sydney McCullough and Sadie Estle picked up two boards each. Audrey Geisige, Jalynn Parrett and Janae Pease each picked up one assist apiece as well.
