WOODBURN – Four quarters of high school basketball wasn’t enough to decide a winner Saturday evening but Bluffton outscored Woodlan 14-8 in the extra session to post a 69-63 victory over the Warriors.
Bluffton jumped in front 14-7 at the end of one quarter and the Tigers pushed the margin from there.
Quarter number two saw the Tigers add 16 points compared to 15 for Woodlan, giving Bluffton a 30-22 advantage at the intermission.
The host Warriors then answered in the third quarter as Woodlan bucketed 16 points while limiting the Tigers to eight in tying the game at 38-38 entering the fourth period.
Each team scored 17 points in the fourth quarter as the game went into overtime with each team standing at 55 points.
Johnathan Irwin scored a game high 32 points to lead Bluffton while Landon McClish added a dozen markers.
The Tigers also got eight points from Everett Johnson with Tanner Cooley scoring seven and Brady Green had six. Zach Cummins also scored four markers for Bluffton.
Trevor Wiedenhoeft and Aiden Bayman both scored 18 points to lead the way for the Warriors while Mitch Mendenhall bucketed ten markers.
Woodlan, which is now 2-9 overall on the season, will host Prairie Heights on January 15 before playing at rival Heritage on January 18.
Bluffton improves to 2-8 in all games and will host Adams Central on January 18.
