Sarah Wong won the Paulding County Spelling Bee held at Payne Elementary on Tuesday, February 5, 2019. Her parents are Terence and Luci Wong. The second place finisher was Caleb Cox, and his parents are Joshua and Elizabeth Cox. Students from 10 schools competed for the right to represent Paulding County.
Sarah will compete in the 65th annual Journal Gazette Spelling Bee presented by STAR Financial Bank, on March 9, 2019. Over 12,000 students compete to participate in the Regional Spelling Bee held at PFW’s Recital hall in the Rhinehart Music Center. The Regional Spelling Bee winner will represent 15 counties in northeast Indiana and northwest Ohio at the Scripps National Spelling Bee near Washington D.C. in May 2019.
