At last week’s Antwerp Rotary Club meeting, the executive director of United Way of Paulding County was the honored guest, Taryn Stiltner. Stiltner discussed with Rotary members all the resources that are available to people in the county to help them through the United Way. UWPC’s mission is to improve lives by mobilizing the caring power of the community. Its purpose is to increase the organized capacity of the people in Paulding, Ohio to care for one another through the establishments of a community process which brings us together to identify, improve, and where possible, resolve health and human care problems. All in an effort to promote individual well-being and social good.
The OSU extension office is hosting a FREE cooking class to individuals who are on any kind of food assistance program. This includes SNAP, WIC, Soup Kitchens, etc. These classes will take place each Wednesday in March and the first two Wednesdays in April.
Another event sponsored by UWPC is Stuff the Truck Food Drive. Stiltner explained that local businesses helped sponsor this event where anyone can donate items such as health cereals and oatmeal, kids snack items, baby food, diapers and wipes, personal hygiene products, toilet paper and toiletries, dry pasta and pasta sauce, canned meat, veggies or fruit, peanut butter, sliced bread, or canned and dry soups. Drop off locations are at Chief Supermarket or Integrity Ford in Paulding.
Small Business Investment Company of Paulding is sponsoring in partnership with UWPC a Homebuyer Education Open House. First Federal Bank reps along with SBIC will be available to answer questions about the home buying process including mortgages and Welcome Home Grant. This open house will take place at the SBIC office which is on N. Williams St. in Paulding.
Tax season is upon everyone and the United Way has connections with NOCAC to offer free tax prep for qualified persons. These clinics are available in Defiance, Fulton, Paulding and Williams Counties.
