Dirk Herschberger, senior at Woodlan Jr. Sr. High is the recipient of The Daughter’s of American Revolution (DAR) Good Citizens Scholarship award of $1000. This scholarship is a competitive scholarship throughout Allen County.
The student has to write an essay about a topic that is given to them on the day of the scheduled essay session, complete the essay within a 2 hour time limit, and they cannot use any sources to aid them. From this essay, as well as documentation outlining how the student has demonstrated the qualities of a good citizen, one winner is chosen for Allen County. This winner then goes on to represent the Fort Wayne area at the State level and then at the National level if chosen as the state winner.
Dirk is the winner for Allen County! The EACS Board of School Trustees recognized Dirk at a recent board meeting.
