Luke Stouffer and Allison Noggle, both 6th-grade students at Payne Elementary, recently placed in the top three of the Van Wert Elks essay contest. The Van Wert Elks Lodge sponsors this contest every year for students in grades 5-8. Students from Mrs. Wilder’s 5th-grade and Mr. Wilhelm’s 6th-grade classes were given the opportunity to participate in this contest.
This years topic was “Why are you proud of America?” Luke Stouffer placed first in the 5th and 6th-grade category, while Allison Noggle placed third. Their essays will be sent to a committee at the district level where they will compete against other local lodge winners. Both Luke and Alli will be recognized later this spring at a brunch where they will receive their awards.
