PAULDING – A single run in the top of the eighth inning proved to be the difference as the Archbold Blue Streaks posted an 11-10 eight-inning victory over Paulding in Tuesday night softball play last week.

It was the Lady Panthers who jumped in front, scoring one run each in the first and third to grab a 2-0 advantage.

However, the Blue Streaks posted five runs in the third in grabbing a 5-2 lead only to see the hosts rally.

Paulding answered with a three-run fourth, tying the game at 5-5, before Archbold put up five more runs in the sixth to seize a 10-5 advantage.

The maroon and white did respond, though, as Paulding scored five times in the bottom of the seventh to knot the score at 10-10 and send the game into extra innings.

Archbold, though, ended it quickly with a single run in the top of the eighth and then held on for the 11-10 victory.

Ashlynn Rice had four singles to lead the Paulding offense, while also scoring once and driving in one run. Leigha Egnor posted three singles, scored twice and drove in one run.

Others picking up hits for the Lady Panthers were Asia Arellano, Haylee Dominique, Gabbie Stallbaum and Jen Stahl. Arellano scored twice for the maroon and white as well.

Haylee Dominique took the loss for Paulding, allowing 14 hits and six earned runs while walking two and striking out two in eight innings of work.
