Congratulations to the following Vantage Career Center students who have placed in the top three in their category at the 2018-19 SkillsUSA Ohio State Championships, held at the Greater Columbus Convention Center in Columbus, Ohio: Matthew Schmiesing (Crestview), Senior Construction Equipment Technology, received bronze in Heavy Equipment Operations; Trevor Siefker (Kalida), Junior Precision Machining, received gold in Precision Machining; Adam Schnipke (Ottoville), Senior Precision Machining, received silver in CNC Milling; Connor Hoersten (Ft. Jennings), Senior Precision Machining, received gold in CNC Technician; and Samantha Backus (Kalida), Senior Precision Machining, received gold in CNC turning. The SkillsUSA Ohio State Championships brings over 5000 competitors for over 100 contests in 16 career pathways. Students compete for the title of the best in Ohio in their respective career fields.
Samantha Backus and Connor Hoersten have qualified for SkillsUSA National competition in June, 2019 at the Kentucky Exposition Center in Louisville, Kentucky. The National Skills and Leadership Conference is a week-long event where attendees can advance their participation to the national level.
