The East Allen County Schools Board of School Trustees recognized Dirk Herschberger for being appointed by Congressman Jim Bank to the United States Military Academy.
Dirk Herschberger will be attending the United States Military Academy at West Point, following his graduation from Woodlan Junior-Senior High School. In addition to his strong academic performance, Dirk has excelled athletically as a captain of his school’s football team and as a member of his school’s wrestling and golf teams. An Eagle Scout and Hoosier Boys State program alumnus, he has also stood out in Woodlan’s Marching and Pep Bands. Dirk looks forward to serving his country, in his words, “so that others can live in peace and have opportunities of Life, Liberty, and Pursuits of Happiness for future generations.” Congressman Banks said, “I have no doubt that he will one day represent the community well in his service to America as an officer in the U.S. Military.
