Paulding High School Family, Career and Community Leaders of America members recently attended the 73rd Ohio FCCLA State Leadership Conference at the Ohio Expo Center in Columbus, Ohio. Brooklyn Arnold, pictured first, received her Power of One. Power of One is a project in which members set goals in five areas; A Better You, Family Ties, Working on Working, Take the Lead, and Speak out for FCCLA. Members then work to complete these goals.
Haleigh Stallbaum and Lonna Saylor, pictured second and third, received a silver medal for their Career Development Event Chapter Service Project Display “Chemo Care Packages”. They collected and purchased items that will provide comfort to patients at Lutheran Cancer Center in Fort Wayne.
Faith Bauer and Adriana Gonzales, pictured fourth and fifth, received a silver medal for their Career Development Event Chapter Service Project Portfolio entitled – “Cuddles in a Bag”. They collected and purchased comfort items for children at Kaitlyn’s Cottage in Defiance.
Career Development Events are educational activities that are organized and conducted by the Ohio Department of Education, Office of Career-Technical Education, Family and Consumer Sciences (FCS). CDE’s are designed to assess student competence and technical skills as detailed in the Family and Consumer Sciences Content Standards They are the motivating force that stimulates career interests and personal development of high school students enrolled in Family and Consumer Sciences course(s).
