Community Memorial Hospital in Hicksville just announced the hiring of Jane Zachrich as the Interim CEO for the non-profit medical institution. The board asked Zachrich if she would take the reins of the 260 employee facility.
Jane Zachrich grew up in Defiance and has been married to her husband, Tom, for 49 years, while having 3 children and now 3 grand-children. Zachrich’s story is very interesting, proving that no matter your age, you can fulfill your dreams.
Zachrich graduated from Defiance High School, but never went to college until after their oldest child graduated from high school. She realized then that there would be no better time than the present to take the next step in her career. She decided then to go to Northwest State Community College after they just opened their registered nursing program. There, she earned her Associates Degree in Nursing. She then decided to go to Graceland University in Independence, MO, taking the next step in her career by getting her Bachelor in Nursing, followed by her dual Masters in Nursing and Masters of Nursing Education.
Jane had a time in her life when she was younger that a person she looked up to told her she was not smart enough to go to college. With her faith in God she was able to overcome the negativity and not only did she start college, but received numerous degrees, then went on to lead numerous appointments.
Zachrich has been in the medical field now for 27 years starting in 1992 at Paulding Hospital as a surgical nurse, and then at Henry County, Ohio as an ICCU nurse. After employment at Henry County Hospital for many years, she felt God was calling her to move to Community Memorial Hospital. In 2007, she became the Chief Nursing Officer and the VP of Patient Services in the Hicksville facility.
In 2018, Jane retired from the hospital. This year she was asked to take the reins of the entire facility after proving years of leadership prowess. As interim CEO, she is intending to be there between 6 months and year while the hospital board works to fill the position permanently.
