The Opera Lane Performers are at it again, this time performing the iconic Anything Goes. The show is set aboard the ocean liner S. S. American, where nightclub singer/evangelist Reno Sweeney (Alex Hindenlang) is en route from New York to England. Her pal Billy Crocker (Gus Stuckey) has stowed away to be near his love, Hope Harcourt (Destiny Lee), but the problem is Hope is engaged to the wealthy Lord Evelyn Oakleigh (Ashton Barnhouse). Joining this love triangle on board the luxury liner are Public Enemy #13, Moonface Martin (Riley Krill) and his sidekick-in-crime Erma (Brooke Ward). With the help of some elaborate disguises, tap-dancing sailors and good old-fashioned blackmail, Reno and Martin join forces to help Billy in his quest to win Hope’s heart.
The youth performers (ages 14-25) do not disappoint! This cast is truly the “All Stars” of area theatrics! The voices of Alex, Gus, and Destiny will give you goosebumps. The harmonies of the Angels (Kate Farr, Jaidis Getrost, Trinity McFarland, and Aleyah Mack) and the ensemble will thrill. The antics of Moonface and Bonnie (Riley and Brooke) will have you in stitches. The costumes, the set, the choreography, and the live orchestra work synergistically to transport you to the 1920’s.
Another winner directed by Julie Hall, produced by Christine Feichter, music direction by Earlee Harris and Elisabeth Wilson.
This is a show you will not want to miss. Performances will be July 26 & 27 at 7 pm and July 28 at 2:30 at the Huber Opera House in Hicksville, OH.
