Three Recent Graduates of the Fort Wayne Medical Education Program Join Lutheran Health Physicians

David Furman, DO

Lutheran Health Physicians is adding a distinctively local feel with the addition of three new providers. David Furman, DO, Anna Menze, DO, and Justin Weirich, DO, each completed their family medicine residencies with the Fort Wayne Medical Education Program in June. All are located at 10307 Dupont Circle Drive, on the Dupont Hospital campus, and will officially start with LHP Thursday.

Family Medicine Residency with FWMEP gives physicians the opportunity to expand their training as they round throughout various local healthcare facilities. In turn, close connections are established with patients, nurses and other providers during their three-year residency in Fort Wayne.

Anna Menze, DO

“The Fort Wayne Medical Education Program has turned out fantastic physicians in the past and partnering with them is also good for our patients,” said Lutheran Health Physicians Chief Executive Officer Dan Konow. “The physicians that train here have already built strong relationships in the medical community and outside of work making the stress of starting a new practice, perhaps, slightly easier.”

For Drs. Menze and Furman, those relationships to Fort Wayne and Lutheran Health Network extend beyond their training at FWMEP. As graduates of Homestead High School and Snider High School, respectively, both call the Summit City home. They also elected to stay in the Hoosier state to advance their education. Dr. Menze completed her undergraduate and graduate work at Purdue University in West Lafayette. Dr. Furman completed his undergraduate education at DePauw University in Greencastle and a master’s degree at Ball State University in Muncie.

Justin Weirich, DO

Dr. Furman earned his medical degree at Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine in Spartanburg, South Carolina, while Dr. Menze obtained her medical degree at Lincoln Memorial University’s DeBusk College of Osteopathic Medicine in Harrogate, Tennessee.

Dr. Weirich joined FWMEP from the East Coast, having earned a bachelor’s degree in chemistry from the University of Mary Washington in Fredericksburg, Virginia, before completing his medical degree at the West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine in Lewisburg, West Virginia.

“I am always excited and look forward to bringing new providers into our community,” Konow continued. “Fort Wayne and northeastern Indiana are a great place to raise a family and I like sharing my home town with those who we invite into the community because I know how great it is.”
