In the morning hours of August 2, 2019, Fort volunteers discovered that the Old Fort had been vandalized with spray paint. An unknown vandal sprayed “no pride in native genocide” on the south-facing exterior façade on both sides of the gate. The Parks Department has been notified and a formal police report was made earlier this afternoon.
Presently, the Old Fort plans to remove the vandalism with soda blasting, which will cause minimal damage to the Fort itself while still removing the spray paint. This will likely be conducted tomorrow afternoon (Saturday, August 3).
