This past weekend the 2019 Flat Rock Creek Fall Festival made way for the best of the autumn season to get off the ground. The Paulding County Fairgrounds was teeming with not only people but with the undeniable aromas of cinnamon, pumpkin, grilling meats and deep-fried specialties only hometown festivals can offer. Flat Rock Creek Fall Festival has been known for many many years to people far and wide as a weekend to say good-bye to summer and mill about the fairgrounds and look at all the tractors, engines, tools and collections people bring to put on display.
Fairground barns were overflowing with handmade handi-crafts from scarves and clothing to microwave bowl holders and dish clothes. Many scents were wafting about to titillate the senses with soaps, lotions, and wax melts. Several vendors had other wares for festival attenders to peruse — metal works, handmade brooms, household items, tools and other antiques.
Food vendors did not disappoint either with the FFA’s sausage and egg sandwiches, Paulding NAZ’s pulled pork nachos, Kiwanis Fish & Fries, Antwerp Conservation Club’s curly fries, Sherwood Fire’s pumpkin doughnuts, and STRM Ministry’s homemade apple dumplings (mine was FABULOUS!). So many options, not one person should have left the festival hungry.
Sunday, JPHS hosted a Truck Show featuring the 2 story General Motors Futureliner as well as many other antiquities of the past century.
And the weekend wasn’t all about the tractors, crafts and food – there was an excellent set up for children and music goers too! KidZone, sponsored by WMYW 102.7, had an area set up for kids to play. A soybean bin to swim through, bouncy house to jump out their energy, face painting, and a straw bale maze.
For the music lovers, there were stages set up all over the fairgrounds with area bands playing tunes – bluegrass, to covers to modern country!
Whatever your fancy about the Autumn season, it surely was satisfied at this year’s Flat Rock Creek Fall Festival!
