The Antwerp Branch of the Paulding County Carnegie Library was transformed into a festive evening of holiday dining on Thursday, December 5, 2019. It was the date of the 2nd Annual Friends of the Library Holiday Gathering. Last year, the Friends of the Antwerp Library had the idea to do a holiday fundraiser, giving a chance for Friends members and library patrons to gather for a leisurely night of good food and fellowship amongst their beloved books. Approximately 50 guests were in attendance in addition to an instrumental ensemble from the Antwerp High School Band.
This year, Grant’s Catering prepared the food, Genesis House provided a Hot Cocoa and Coffee Bar, and Friends member, Joyce West, made the appetizer cheese balls and crackers. A variety of people volunteered to sponsor and decorate a table in their own unique Christmas style. During the meal, each table decorator had a chance to share with the group the inspiration behind their decor choice. Some had intimate reasons for their table settings while others just liked their sparkles and shine.
The band ensemble entertained during the meal with several familiar holiday melodies. After the meal, the Friends President, Anita Bok, told the guests what the Friends group has been doing this past year to support the library with the funds they raise throughout the year including this dinner fundraiser.
Lining all of the top shelves on the south wall of the Library are several Christmas wreaths on display. This dinner was the opening of the Community Wreath Drawing which will continue until December 16th when the winning ticket will be drawn from each of the wreath’s baskets. All the wreaths were donated for this fundraising event by area businesses and library patrons. Here’s how you can participate and possibly win one of the beautiful holiday wreaths: Tickets are available at the Antwerp Library. Each wreath is numbered with a bucket that has a matching number. Simply put your name on the back of the tickets that you purchase and then decide which wreath(s) you would like to win and dump your ticket(s) in the corresponding buckets. For more information, contact the Antwerp Library at 419-258-2855. Remember the drawing will be on December 16th!
