Sarah Wong won the 2020 Paulding County Spelling Bee held at Paulding Middle School on Monday, February 10, 2020. Her parents are Terence and Luci Wong. The second place finisher was Estee Lichty and her parents are Travis and Erin Lichty. Students from 10 schools competed for the right to represent Paulding County. Sarah will compete in the 66th annual Journal Gazette Spelling Bee presented by STAR Financial Bank on March 7, 2020. Over 12,000 students compete to participate in the Regional Spelling Bee held at IPFW’s Recital Hall in the Rhinehart Music Center. The Regional Spelling Bee winner will represent 15 counties in northeast Indiana and northwest Ohio at the Scripps National Spelling Bee near Washington D.C. in May 2020.
