On Monday evening April 20, 2020 area schools lit up the night sky at their football fields and porch lights in neighborhoods to show their support to the graduating classes of 2020. The lights went on at 8:20 p.m. for 40 minutes (20 + 20). Pictured here are several participating area schools.
With the spring sports season canceled and distance learning ending out the 2019-20 school year, students, parents, and school faculty alike are embarking on new territory and setting new academic standards.
To the Senior Class of 2020: Let the month of May be a time of reflection, a time of making memories — not the memories you thought you were gonna make, but memories none the less. There may be virtual ceremonies instead of live ones; recorded speeches; air hugs, and card showers instead of public parties. And just think of the stories you can all share at your 20 year class reunion!
There is an anonymous quote that is a perfect fit for this year’s graduating class:
“At some point you just have to let go of what you thought should happen and live in what is happening.”
