On Wednesday, April 29th, the West Ohio Food Bank (WOFB) hosted a good giveaway at the Paulding County Fairgrounds for area residents. Over 200 families benefited from this Drive, and unfortunately it wasn’t quite enough for all who came out. Recipients were humbled and relieved to receive these gifts from the Food Bank. In these uncertain times, people are dealing with being non-essential workers unable to practice their trades or laid off health care workers. Senior citizens were in abundance during this round of the WOFB giveaway. Troopers from the Van Wert Post, Ohio National Guard and the Paulding County Senior Center helped distribute meals on behalf of the West Ohio Food Bank at the fairgrounds from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
Paulding County Senior Center director, Marsha Yeutter commented on the event, “I would like to personally thank WOFB, the Lima Ohio National Guard, the Ohio State Patrol officers from the Van Wert Post, the Fair Board, Paulding County EMA and the county engineer’s office who helped set things up. It takes a big team to make this go smoothly. Cars started lining up at 8:30, but the event did not start until 11:00. We felt bad that food was gone before the last couple of cars made it through the line.”
Plans are in the works for a future Food Giveaway – keep watch for updates!
