Gilda Marie (Hasemeyer) Culler, 93, of Antwerp, Ohio died on July 12, 2020. She was born on September 11, 1926 to the late Earl and Irene (Schosser) Hasemeyer in Braidwood, Illinois. On September 11, 1949 Gilda married Robert Wayne Culler in Yorkville, Illinois. Robert preceded her in death on December 26, 1993.
Mrs. Culler attended the University of Illinois and graduated in 1948 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management and Marketing. Her first employment was at Northern Trust Bank in Chicago. Later, while raising six children, Gilda managed the office of Ace Equipment Company, a company both Robert and Gilda owned and operated.
Mrs. Culler was a long time member of Antwerp United Methodist Church, a member of the neighborhood All Together Club and the Paulding County Fairview Grange. Gilda’s backyard was a window on wildlife with a wide variety of numerous birds at her feeders, a well-stocked pond, and many visiting deer, wild turkeys, raccoons and skunks. She especially enjoyed jigsaw puzzles, reading, traveling, shopping, Pam’s Hair Salon, family and friends. Everyone in the family always wanted to see if they could beat her at Chinese checkers.
Gilda’s children include: Darlene M. (Dennis) Hanneman, Carolyn J. (Joseph) Johnson, Lawrence R. (Cheryle), Roberta L. (Danny/deceased) Traylor, Donna L. (Leonard) Wirz, and Linda A. (Gary) Mabis. She was blessed with thirteen grandchildren: Tamara Royer, Beth Hanneman, Eric Hanneman, Angela Holder, Michelle Whitman, Kyle Mees, Christian Milligan, Kevin Culler, Sarah McQuilkin, Monica Traylor, Faith Murawski, Angel Stephenson (deceased), and Misty Wirz as well as eighteen great grandchildren.
Mrs. Culler also had two sisters: Carol I. (William) Farina and Wilma L. (Donald) McAllister that preceded her in death.
Graveside services will be Friday, July 17 at 10:30 a.m. at Maumee Cemetery, 14623 County Road 43, Antwerp with Reverend Mike Schneider presiding. At the family’s request we ask that you wear masks at all times, maintain social distancing and refrain from contact to keep everyone safe while participating in Gilda’s service.
