Antwerp Chamber of Commerce is sad to report that there will be no parade to open Day in the Park this year. However, many events will still be going on at the Riverside Veterans Memorial Park on August 1, 2020. Events will begin at 11:00 a.m. with the announcement of the Gem, retirement of flags by the boy scouts, and Welcome by the mayor. The Wannabees will be playing from 12:00-3:00 p.m. There will be food vendors, craft vendors, 50/50, silent auction, cutie pie contest and Sweet 16 contest.
Do you know a Gem in your life? Someone who has made the Antwerp community a little bit brighter? Submit their name and why they are deserving to be Antwerp’s Gem of the Year. Deadline is this Friday, July 17, 2020. Forms are available at Antwerp Exchange Bank and can be dropped off there as well.
Don’t forget to get your Cutie Pie registered for this year’s contest. Cans, photos and entry fees can be dropped off at Petals and Vines any time during normal business hours, 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. Voting will take place ahead of time at Petals and Vines as well as at Day in the Park.
The playground will be open with areas to sanitize hands before and after playing. Masks and social distancing will be encouraged and guidelines from the health department will be followed by all vendors and Chamber volunteers. It should be a fun and relaxing day so please come out and enjoy a respite from every day activities. We hope to see you. Bring a lawn chair and sit and enjoy the music.
