Antwerp Rotary CASA Guests

Judge Michael Wehrkamp, Desirae Eisenman – CASA, Jess Robbins – CASA, and Dennis Recker,  Rotarian.

The Antwerp Rotary met on Thursday, September 24 with guest speakers from CASA. After the meal, Paulding County Juvenile/Probate Judge Michael Wehrkamp was invited to speak by Rotarian Dennis Recker. Judge Wehrkamp brought with him two people from an organization called NW Ohio CASA – Jess Robbins and Desirae Eisenman.

Northwest Ohio Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) incorporates the counties of Paulding, Defiance, Henry, and Williams. Jess Robbins and Desirae Eisenman spoke on the need for volunteers to speak on behalf of the children. The requirement would be at least 1 hour per month where you would check on the child and meet with relevant people in the child’s circle such as family, teachers, doctors, etc. Generally, it would take about 3-12 hours per month, and they assign 1 or 2 cases to the volunteer so as not to overwhelm them.

During normal years they have fundraising events, but this year most have been cancelled.

Many of the the young people that are in this program are there because of parents’ poor choices. Ending the cycle of bad decisions is what this program is all about. Are you interested in helping to change the direction of a child’s life? You may call 419-592-9455 or email: info@nwocasa.com
