A seven month investigation by Oakwood assistant Chief of Police and Oakwood Elementary School Resource Officer Gary Smiddy, lead to the execution of a search warrant on Thursday, October 8, 2020 which has resulted in the arrest of a local Oakwood man.
During the search warrant 26 full-grown Marijuana plants were confiscated with an estimated street value of $30,000-$40,000 along with a substantial amount in cash and multiple drug instruments.
Agencies assisting were Oakwood Police Department, Paulding County Sheriffs Office, the Multi Area Narcotics Unit, The Bureau Of Criminal Investigation and the Paulding County Dog Warden. The defendant in the case is currently being held at the Paulding County Sheriffs Office Jail for illegal cultivation of Marijuana within 1000 feet of a school, a felony of the second degree.
The search warrant went without incident. Further charges are pending.
