Democrats in Paulding County met at the Paulding Eagles on Tuesday, October 13, opening with the Pledge of Allegiance. The enthusiasm for the election was filling the hall as Chairman Brandon Wobler called the meeting to order. He announced, with excitement, the new Biden–Harris Campaign billboard that is on US 127 north, visible as you arrive in Paulding (it was noted, the other side had a Donald Trump billboard posted to counter the Biden sign). Wobler thanked everyone who made that possible.
Wobler said that Frank Robey, running for Paulding County Commissioner (against Roy Klopfenstein), is in quarantine right now due to exposure to someone that had COVID, and could not make it to the meeting that night.
While at the meeting, Sheri Baker announced that the Paulding County Democrats now had an ACTBLUE.COM account that people could now donate directly to the Paulding’s chapter and they could even have a regular donation setup to automatically withdraw for the local party.
Mailers had gone out instructed by the Ohio Democrat Party to inform voters of how to vote on the ballot. Some people have stated that they never received theirs. Wobler informed that more would be going out soon.
Tom Sinn, candidate for Paulding County Commissioner (against Clint Vance), said he was confident in his campaign as he talked with people around the county and the support he was getting locally from both Democrats and Republicans. He noted that West Bend Printing designed his materials. “I have no agenda,” exclaimed Sinn, referring to the national campaigns that insist there must be an agenda. “I want to serve the county as the needs arise.” The meeting voted to donate $400 to Sinn’s campaign.
Andrea Schlueter responded to Tom Sinn, after he said he only had a couple signs come up missing, reminding everyone to charge their trail cams to ensure that people who are stealing the signs are caught!
The Defiance Area UAW Cap /council gave their endorsement to Elecia Wobler’s campaign. Elecia is very pleased with the support that she has received. One person asked what would happen if her name wasn’t spelled exactly right, since she is a write-in candidate. Linda Wiedenhamer responded that the write-in candidate does not have to be spelled exactly right to be counted.
Linda noted that 3090 (as of the meeting) had already cast their vote, either absentee or at the Board of Elections.
Paulding Democrats are planning on having an Election night party, but it was undecided on the location. Sheri said the Defiance UAW was also going to have a party.
Towards the end of the meeting, Brandon warned people to report harassment at the polls.
The Paulding Democrat meetings are the second Tuesday 7pm at the Paulding Eagles banquet room.
