On Saturday, Senator Kamala Harris visited Cleveland to emphasize the critical role Ohio will play in choosing the next president. Harris’s visit included stops at Zanzibar Soul Fusion restaurant, Fetch & Co. boutique, the Cuyahoga County Board of Elections, and a voter mobilization event to encourage Ohioans to make a plan to vote by visiting iwillvote.com/OH. “There has been a failure of leadership by the Trump Administration. Over 220,000 have died (from the coronavirus) in just the last several months. Over eight and a half million Americans have contracted the disease. We have over 30-Million Americans who have filed for unemployment during one time or another during these last several months,” Senator Harris said.
Senator Harris says this vote is more important than ever, because Cleveland and the state of Ohio are suffering due to the on-going pandemic, “One in five small businesses in Ohio have closed. One in 10 Ohioans are reporting people in their household being hungry, one in six renters in Ohio are finding it almost impossible to pay their rent.”
“The path to victory runs through Ohio,” said Senator Kamala Harris during a one-on-one interview with Fox 8 reporter Wayne Dawson.
Also this week, Biden for President Ohio hosted a series of voter mobilization events to speak directly to Ohioans and the issues they care about as well as encourage Ohio voters to make a plan to vote this election.
On Tuesday, Mayors from across Ohio held a Mayors March to the Polls Get Out the Vote event, casting their ballots early and encouraging Ohio voters to make their plan to vote by visiting www.iwillvote.com/OH.
Also on Tuesday, Biden for President Ohio’s hosted a “Build Back Better” virtual discussion with Tom Steyer, Congressman Tim Ryan, IBEW President Lonnie Stephenson, and UAW VP Cindy Estrada focused on the Biden-Harris Build Back Better Plan that will create the good-paying union jobs we need to make America the global leader in the production and sales of union-made electric vehicles, build a resilient sustainable infrastructure, including over 500,000 charging stations, and deliver an equitable clean energy future.
On Wednesday, Biden for President Ohio hosted a Sister to Sister virtual roundtable discussion with State Senator Sandra Williams and other Black elected and community leaders from across Ohio who highlighted the importance of Black women making their voices heard in this election, and what it would mean to elect the first-ever Black woman Vice President in Kamala Harris.
On Thursday, Biden for President Ohio hosted a virtual Shop Talk discussion with Wisconsin Lt. Governor Mandela Barnes, Columbus City Council President Shannon Hardin, Deputy Government Affairs Director of SEIU Dominique Warren, and Deputy Engagement Director for the Ohio Democratic Party and Vice President of the Ohio Young Democrats Jordan Hawkins at MoBazz Barbershop in Cleveland. The conversation was moderated by Cleveland City Councilman Basheer Jones, and highlighted the Biden-Harris Lift Every Voice Plan for Black America.
Also on Thursday, during the final Presidential debate, Biden presented a unifying vision for America and articulated his plans to defeat COVID-19, ensure working families and small businesses have a fair shot, and restore America’s leadership around the world. Ohio leaders made clear that Biden walked away the winner of the debate because he focused on speaking directly and truthfully to the American people.
