The John Paulding Historical Society will hold its annual membership meeting and election of officers and directors on Sunday, February 21, 2021 at 2 p.m. at the museum located across from the fairgrounds in Paulding. The public is invited and encouraged to attend.
The program for the afternoon will feature author Jane Nice, who will speak about the research she has been doing for a book she plans to write about the 1894 murders of siblings Ashby and Elsie Good three miles north of Paulding, as well as the conviction and execution of Charles Hart five months after the crime was committed. In addition to internet searches, resources at the state and local level have uncovered details about the case.
Nice, a Paulding resident for more than 30 years, is a former high school English teacher who has written feature articles and a biography, Married to Millie: The Humble Life of Herb Monroe, while raising three kids on a farm with her husband.
Her passion for history and true crime led her to her current project.
Refreshments will be served following the meeting. Covid-19 guidelines will be exercised.
