To celebrate Read Across America, Payne Elementary recently participated in Dr. Seuss related dress up days, read Dr. Seuss books, and finished off the week by holding their 6th Annual Book Exchange! Title 1 teacher, Mrs. April Krouse plans this exchange for the school every year in hopes to promote literacy and encourage students to learn to love all different kinds of books. Students were encouraged to bring in up to two books from home for the exchange this year. Students and teachers made donations, and we gathered over 300 books! A special thanks also goes out to the Paulding County Library who also donated a few books to add to our collection. The classes enjoyed choosing books from their favorite authors, topics, and genres. Those students who participated were entered into a drawing to receive a $25.00 gift certificate to spend at the upcoming Spring Book Fair. Our winner was KA student Elise Steffen!! Mrs. Krouse appreciates all the help that went into this event and looks forward to next year’s exchange!
