The Woodburn Christian Children’s Home broke ground for the new facility on Thursday, September 9. Many Lives have been changed in the past. “This is a step forward in each life of the child at Woodburn Christian Children’s Home” Joe Heins continues, “At the Woodburn Christian Children’s Home, we do not raise victims but strong and courageous overcomers.”
Part one of the expansion is the multi-purpose building. Hopefully, WCCH’s 50th anniversary will be celebrated in the new structure.
Every aspect of WCCH is closely looked at and thought out. The Strong and Courageous expansion is anchored in the scriptural calling to assist discouraged parents and help to raise children that can overcome the weight of worldly troubles. “This is more than a building, it is a ministry platform.” stated Joe Heins.
This project has been developing for over five years and has come to include counseling, art, play, recreational therapies, physical fitness, education, tutoring programs, and life skills.
As downtrodden, young people come in, they will be encouraged. They will experience something different. Something better. They will experience a safe environment and know they are a part of something greater than themselves.
WCCH is extremely appreciative of current and future donors that make this possible. Nucor has provided the steel for the pre-engineered metal building, which started a landslide of donations. Klopfenstein Furniture and Flooring, Pranger Mechanical, Votaw Electric, and many more. Vintage Archonics has provided the walk-through
The groundbreaking signifies the community coming together to help children who have been lacking the resources and environment to thrive.
In the five months since the announcement, 65% of the funding has been met. Over 50 churches, over 150 families, and over 100 businesses have stepped up to the challenge. Over $900,000 has been pledged for this project. The Woodburn Christian Children’s Home has always been privately funded, and this commitment continues in this Strong and Courageous expansion.
“Today we join our collective voices for hope for the hopeless,” said Joe.
Dennis Armstrong had the prayer following Joe and then the groundbreaking took place.
