Paulding County runners swept the individual titles of the Antwerp Cross Country Invitational on Thursday as Wayne Trace’s Kiara Bahena and Antwerp’s Avin Johnson each picked up first place finishes.
Bahena took the individual championship of the girls varsity race, taking first place with a time of 22:17 to lead the Lady Raiders.
Wayne Trace’s Abby Moore was the next county runner, taking fifth place in 23:23, and Antwerp’s Aeriel Snyder finished tenth in 24:35.
Fairview claimed the team title with 39 points while Edgerton was second at 48 and Antwerp placed third with 63. Wayne Trace took fourth place with 71.
Other Archer finishers were Makenna Smith (14th, 25:12), Emerson Litzenberg (15th, 25:20), Kate Farr (18th, 26:00), Emma Saul (19th, 26:00), Isabella Meyer (25th, 27:12), Megan O’Donnell (33rd, 29:20) and Shaylee Garrett (35th, 32:26).
Faith Meraz (21st, 26:39), Elizabeth Mohr (31st, 28:27) and Libby Meraz (32nd, 28:59) were the remaining three runners for the red, white and blue.
Claire Miller led Paulding by taking 11th in 24:47 and Cassie Weller took 26th in 27:12.
Johnson won the boys varsity race with a time of 18:53 while Antwerp’s Kamren Johnson finished fourth in 19:18.
The Apaches won the boys team title with 31 points with Hicksville second at 55 and Antwerp third with 85. Wayne Trace placed fourth, totaling 93 points.
Maddox Treece paced the Raiders with a time of 20:31, good for 13th place, and the Archers’ Alex Zijlstra finished 16th in 20:46.
Skylar Octaviano (37th, 25:31) and Owen Franks (43rd, 26:00) were the other two Antwerp runners.
Gage Ogle (18th, 20:47), Austin Lyons (23rd, 22:14), Corbin Kimmel (28th, 22:59), Logan Miller (31st, 23:51), Aiden Lee (32nd, 24:56), Trent Thornell (38th, 25:34) and Noah Schisler (50th, 33:48) completed the list of Raider runners.
Paulding was led by Cully Thompson, who took 24th in 22:22. Other Panther runners were Caleb Thompson (33rd, 25:03), Eli Jones (34th, 25:12), Jeremiah Koenig (35th, 25:27), Greyson Harder (41st, 25:47), Josh Lemieux (45th, 26:29), Garret McClure (47th, 26:53), Wesley Ludwig (48th, 26:55) and Alex Tressler (49th, 31:47).
