Carson Altimus found Kaden Recker for a 25-yard touchdown pass with 42 seconds remaining in the contest to lift the Antwerp Archers to a 22-14 win over visiting Edgerton Friday night in Green Meadows Conference football play.
The win for the Archers, which was the squad’s fifth consecutive victory, improves Antwerp to 7-2 overall on the season and 5-1 in GMC action.
Antwerp was able to get the win on Friday despite committing five turnovers in the contest, thanks to a pair of scoring strikes from Altimus in the contest.
Edgerton struck first in the game, getting a 39-yard touchdown toss from Corey Everetts to Carter Herman for an 8-0 Bulldog lead.
Antwerp trimmed the deficit to 8-7 at the end of one quarter when Altimus hooked up with Parker Moore on a 25-yard scoring strike.
Reid Lichty plunged into the endzone from two yards out in the second quarter to put the blue and white on top 14-8 at the intermission.
Everetts brought Edgerton even at 14-14 on an eight-yard pass to Kadyn Picillo for a Bulldog touchdown before the heroics late by Altimus and Recker.
Antwerp will close its regular season with a road trip to Hicksville on Friday. The Aces are currently 1-8 in all games and 1-5 in the conference.
Edgerton, which is 4-5 overall and 2-3 in the league, will entertain Wayne Trace on Friday in the regular season finale.
