CHRISTMAS CARDS WILL GET SENT TO HUNDREDS

Last summer the Bargain Bin of Paulding County, Inc. gathered up individual Christmas cards that come in through donations and questioned as to what to do with them. It’s a known fact that people just don’t send cards anymore. A member of the Bargain Bin, Eileen Kochensparger took on the challenge of finding a home for the many cards. She contacted John Daeger, a member of the Paulding VFW and together chose a volunteer group in Maryland to send the cards too.

The cards were passed throughout the county to individuals, school children, the Oakwood Arbor #759 an extension of the Gleaner Insurance Co located in Adrian Michigan and the Oakwood Labor Day Homecoming.  Approximately 1000 cards have been signed. Only a first name and the town and state along with a message if the person chose was to be on the card.  Envelopes were not needed.

The cards are ready to be sent and with the help of the local VFW they will soon be on their way. An added plus to our sending the cards was a visit of the grandson of Vince and Carol Schaeffer of Payne.  Their grandson was home on leave and would be leaving the next day for a 9 month tour to Iraq.  Wouldn’t it be great if he happens to get a card signed from someone in Paulding County. Could this become an annual event.  Anything is possible.
