Antwerp started its 2021-2022 boys high school basketball season Friday night and the Archers rolled to a 65-37 win over visiting Delphos St. John’s in Paulding County.
The blue and white seized control in the opening stanza, scoring 26 points in the opening eight minutes to grab an early 26-5 lead. Both teams struggled to score in the second quarter as Antwerp posted a 31-12 advantage at the intermission before the Archers expanded the margin to 47-24 at the end of three periods.
Jagger Landers led the way for Antwerp with 29 points, including five three-pointers in the contest, while Landon Brewer added 16 markers and hit a quartet of treys. Carson Altimus chipped in a dozen points, hitting two three-pointers, as the Archers totaled 11 treys in the contest overall.
Kaden Recker, Luke Krouse, Reid Lichty and Mason Steel all had two points for Antwerp.
Nolan Schwinnen led the way for Delphos St. John’s with nine points with Landen Grothaus and Landon Elwer both chipping in six markers. Aaron Moenter and Ethan Druckemiller posted four markers each for the Blue Jays while Brady Kerner and Jack Gerker had three points apiece. Austin Moenter also had a basket for Delphos St. John’s.
