HAVILAND – After a somewhat slow start the Wayne Trace Raiders kicked it in high gear midway through the first quarter to soundly defeat Bryan 64-29. With the score knotted at six a piece in the early going, the Raiders delivered a 7-0 run to lead 13-6: a lead they would not relinquish the rest of the way.
The Raiders firmly established themselves in the second frame as the more dominate team. WT moved out to a 20-8 advantage before the red, white, and blue put together a 10-0 run compliments of three Brooks Laukhuf buckets, a Kyle Stoller close range hoop and two free throws from Cameron Graham. The Raider’s offensive flurry increased their margin to 30-10. The first half closed out with the home team in control 34-12.
After the break, the Golden Bears responded with eight unanswered points to closed the gap 34-20. However, the Raiders would bounce back to closed out the period on a Stoller free throw and a Graham basket while holding the Golden Bears scoreless after opening with their mini eight-point run.
After scoring just three points in the third quarter the Raiders exploded with 27 fourth quarter points to secure the nonconference win 64-29.
The Raiders scorched the nets from the two-point area hitting 18-36 and aa respectable 7-18 behind the arc for a 47 percent clip. Leading scorers for the Raiders were Stoller 18; Laukhuf 16 and Graham 13. Stoller also contributed seven rebounds while hitting 8-14 from the floor. Laukhuf finished on 7-13 shooting while adding five rebounds along with five steals. Graham connected on 3-5 from the floor but was a perfect 6-6 from the charity stripe.
Also scoring for the victorious Raiders: Trevor Sinn five, Cam Sinn, Hudson Myers three, Cale Winans two and Dylan Hildebrand two. The Bryan Golden Bears were paced by the 10 points from Craig Jackson.
The 3-0 Raiders outrebounded Bryan 34-28. In the turnover department the Raiders totals 14 while the Bears accounted for 25 miscues.
