Veterans National Memorial Shrine Museum’s, Vietnam Wall Receives 2022 Concrete Achievement Award

Fort Wayne, In Jan. 25th The Veterans National Memorial Shrine & Museum has recently been awarded the 2022 Concrete Achievement Award by the Indiana Ready Mixed Concrete Association for the construction of the Vietnam Wall. The Award was presented to Commander Greg Bedford, Chris Harmon Director of Field Operations for Hagerman Construction, as well as Shawn Hacker, Forman on the wall project from Hagerman, in Indianapolis on Monday January 17th.

The award was for excellence in concrete construction of the wall, which took a total of seven months to construct with the reinforced concrete base and walls. The anodized aluminum panels were then attached to the concrete walls. The structure stands 8 1⁄2 feet at it’s tallest point and runs 360 feet end to end. The Vietnam Wall was dedicated on May 29th of last year.

The award honors Hagerman Inc for Structural Engineering Services; Viridian Architectural Design Inc. and Irving Materials Inc. Commander Bedford said “We cannot thank these vendors enough who helped us complete this magnificent monument to the fallen heroes of the Vietnam conflict. Chris Harmon from Hagerman and Terry Thornsberry from Viridian Architectural really made this project possible, along with the hundreds of people who worked on this monument.” The Wall is open to the public seven days a week at 2122 O’Day Road in Fort Wayne.
