Fred Pieper, has announced his candidacy for the open Board of Trustee seat for Paulding Putnam Electric Cooperative (PPEC) District 4.
Pieper was born and raised in rural Paulding County and has been a PPEC customer for over fifteen years. He received his undergraduate degree from Anderson University and his MBA from the University of Toledo. He has served as a member of the Board of Directors of Financial Partners Credit Union, a 54-million dollar credit union based in Woodburn, Indiana for over two decades. He has held the office of treasurer for over fifteen years.
A unique perspective Pieper holds of electric coop service is that of a lineman. Employed for seventeen years as a lineman with the coop makes him knowledgeable of the “behind the scenes” workings. “In the lineman capacity I have been on poles in all kinds of weather to restore power. I know first-hand the dedication and expertise of our front line personnel. We are fortunate to have such a qualified and trained team working for us and I rarely worry about the continuity of electric power to our rural area,” shares Pieper.
When PPEC members “flip the switch” they rarely think about everything that is involved in delivering the electric service to their home or business. The Board of Trustees have many responsibilities and are charged with working with the administrative team to strategically plan for the future. Concerns include maintaining independence from larger, investor-driven electric companies, cybercrimes, protecting the grid and maintaining standards of service that meet or exceed our members’ electrical needs. Meeting government requirements and integrating renewable energies while utilizing more stable energy sources such as coal and nuclear are core to planning for the future.
District 4 includes Emerald, Jackson, Blue Creek, and Paulding townships in Paulding County; and Delaware Township in Defiance County. For more information contact Pieper at fredpiep@bright.net or call 419-670-2980.
