The Paulding County Democrats met on Saturday, February 19 at the McDonald’s in Paulding for a scheduled meeting with Democratic candidate for Ohio governor, Nan Whaley. Whaley is originally from Indiana and went to post secondary school in Dayton, where she soon ended up winning a seat on City Council as the youngest person to serve in the city’s history. She became the first elected mayor of Dayton and found herself in the middle of a an opioid epidemic. She presented a solution of a drug rehab and needle exchange program funded to help with drug addiction.
Whaley is seeking the office of governor citing the failures of the DeWine Administration. One statement she made is she would like to see people receive their fair share from the government and also that the “rich” need to pay their fair share.
Paulding County Democrats gave their endorsement to Nan Whaley, who was glad to accept. Running with Whaley as candidate for Lieutenenant Governor is Cheryl Stephens of Akron, Ohio.
