XANDER RYAN JEWELL was named 2022 Valedictorian of Harlan Christian School. His parents are Ryan and Nicole Jewell. His GPA is 11.60.
After graduation, Jewell plans to attend Ivy Tech for Computer Science because he plans to have a career at a software development company.
During high school Jewell participated in youth group, baseball, basketball, and is a church member. He earned the following awards and/or recognitions: high honor roll all 4 years, Academic Achievement Award for basketball – 2 years, Hawk Award (Hard working, Always encouraging, Works with others, Keeps Christ first). Outside of school, Jewell enjoys basketball, technology study, church, and football.
When asked about his most memorable high school experience, Jewell remarked, “All of the memories I made with my friend group called the “fab five” (Elijah Murphy, Isaac Schwartz, Caleb Shenkel, and Shane Comer).”
LILYANA WELLMAN was named 2022 Valedictorian of Harlan Christian School. Her parents are Matthew and Lindsay Wellman. Her GPA is 11.60.
After graduation, Wellman plans to attend Ivy Tech for Business Administration. She would like to open her own business someday because she would like to run an alteration shop or a small boutique.
During high school, Wellman played volleyball, basketball, was a member of the service club, yearbook committee and newspaper staff, and is an active member of the Harlan church of Christ youth group. Awards and recognitions Wellman earned are the Academic Athletic Achievement Awards for volleyball and basketball.
Outside of school, Wellman enjoys sewing and making and designing her own clothes. Her most memorable high school experience is playing on the volleyball team with her friends.
BREANNA CROWL has been named 2022 Salutatorian of Harlan Christian School. Her parents are Todd and Erica Crowl. Her GPA is 11.58.
After graduation, Crowl plans to attend God’s Bible School and College to earn a Bachelor’s in Elementary Education. She wants to be an elementary teacher to “help kids be confident in themselves and be the best they can be.”
During high school, Breanna interned with the school’s elementary classes, played volleyball, volunteers with her church’s children’s program, was on the newspaper and yearbook staff, and does community service projects with her youth group. Awards and/or recognitions she has earned include academic awards, volleyball awards, placed at International and Regional Student conventions; earned recognition in Expressive Reading, Poetry Reading, Photography, one-act Plays, Crafts, Scrapbooking, and Singing; and earned 3rd place in a Creative Writing competition.
Outside of school, Crowl enjoys hiking and camping with her family, painting, swimming, crafting, and playing the piano. She also enjoys playing volleyball with friends and family, spending time with her dogs, and working with the kids at church.
“My favorite memory was when the senior class decided to ride go-karts through the gym during a free period … and anytime our class would make dumb jokes that would make you laugh for a while,” Breanna stated about her most memorable high school experience.
Graduation for the students of Harlan Christian School was Saturday, May 14, 2022.
