Antwerp and Wayne Trace baseball teams competed in Bryan on Saturday evening of the Memorial Day weekend for the District Championship title. Both teams came off victories from the night before as Raiders handily defeated Ayersville while the Archers came back at the end of their match to defeat Edon.
The game Saturday started with Wayne Trace’s Tyler Davis getting several strikeouts early against Antwerp and then the home team batted in two runs in the first inning, Tucker Antoine and Cooper Wenzlick, taking an early lead over the Archers. Unfortunately for Wayne Trace that would be last scores posted.
Antwerp managed to get on the board with a run in the third by junior Eli Reinhart.
It wasn’t until the sixth inning when more runs were added to the scoreboard, giving the lead to Antwerp. In the seventh inning the Archers added one more run by Northwest Ohio’s best hitter, and game winning pitcher – Luke Krouse.
