Penny For Your Thoughts By: Nancy Whitaker
This is a story about four people. Their names were: Everybody, Somebody, Anybody, and Nobody.
There happened to be an important job to be done and Everybody was sure that Somebody would do it.
Anybody could have done it, but Nobody did it. Somebody got angry about that, because it was Everybody’s job.
Everybody thought Anybody could do it, but Nobody realized that Everybody wouldn’t do it.
It ended up that Everybody blamed Somebody when Nobody did what Anybody could have.
There are always things in life that “Should be done; could be done; may be done; will be done and maybe not get done.
As youngsters, we depend on our parents to feed us, clothe us and raise us. This job takes at least 18 years to complete and there could be lots of bodies involved. These are “bodies” which help accomplish the goal of growing up. Mama sometimes has to be Everybody because lots of times she does everything. Dad is a Somebody as he works and earns a living.
When getting old enough to go to school, we have our teachers to guide and teach us. That is their job. Anybody may become a teacher at school and Somebody could too. To be a teacher is a huge responsibility, so Everybody isn’t really qualified.
Have you ever served on a board or a committee? You always have a Somebody; an Anybody; an Everybody and then there may be Nobody’s.
Lots of times decisions made for a club or organization requires Somebody, Anybody, Everybody and Nobody to all work together to accomplish goals.
I imagine we all want to be Somebodies. That desire to live our own lives and reaching our greatest potential makes us a Somebody.
But to chase a dream and catch it, Somebody, Anybody, Everybody and even a Nobody can chase a dream.
Are you one of The Body family members? Was there a job to do and Nobody did it?
Let me know and I’ll Give you a Penny for Your Thoughts.
