During the Paulding County Fair, the Paulding FFA had over 80 members participate in a variety of activities from still projects to livestock projects as well as the kickball tournament. This year’s fair was June 11th-18th, with many activities each day. The Paulding FFA had livestock projects in all the barns for the public to enjoy. Sunday evening was the 2nd Annual Lonnie Miller kickball tournament where the Paulding FFA had a team and they ended up taking first place in the tournament winning a trophy for all their teamwork. On Monday, several members participated in the annual king and queen contest. We had 5 out of the 6 royalty members on the court representing the Paulding FFA. Kyle Mobley was this year’s king, Carter Manz was 1st runner up, and Colby Singer was 2nd runner up. Claire Schweller was this year’s queen and Jamy Hunt was 1st runner up.
Every Paulding FFA member had at least one project at the fair this year in our FFA booth or in the barns. This year there were over 40 animal projects and over 100 still projects. The still projects this year included chicken wire frames, misc items, electrical boards, lamps, boot scrapers, metal animals, and concrete stepping stones. The following members won plaques or best of class ribbons for their still projects. Congratulations to Tyler Schlatter who received best metal working project and best concrete project, Carlea Kuckuck received best carpentry project and Kobe Foor received best electricity project with Paige Jones receiving best of class with her SAE display board. The chapter had a lot of members win awards with their livestock projects. Grand champion winners included Harley Collins with her dairy beef feeder, Kyle Mobley with his beef feeders, Jocelynn Parrett with her market goat, and Colby Singer with his single fryer rabbit. Reserve champions included Kyle Mobley with his beef feeder. Katie Beckman won the champion high point belt buckle for pleasure and Mara Phlipot won the reserve champion contesting with her horse. Other members placed 1st and 2nd in many of their livestock classes, we were so proud of all their hard work and sportsmanship throughout the hot week. We also had 5 members winning their showmanship class and getting to participate in the showman of showmen contest; those members included: Jocelynn Parrett, Katie Beckman, Jack Woods, Carter Manz and Hannah Griffiths. Carter Manz won the showman of showmen contest on Friday as well as Outstanding Livestocker award.
The members were also very busy helping in the FFA Alumni Sausage Stand and serving on the Paulding County Jr. Fairboard helped to run the livestock shows. The Paulding FFA had a very successful year at the Paulding County Fair, the chapter is excited for next year! Thanks to everyone who supported the members of the Paulding FFA during the fair, we are so appreciative of our community and their support.
