The theme for the 2022 Harlan Days is ‘A Harlan Homecoming’ and our local volunteers have been putting in a lot of hard work getting this year’s festival up and running. This summer we are so glad to welcome everyone back to celebrate the 75th annual Harlan Days in support of the Harlan Community Park! The Park is community owned and receives no tax dollars. To start off the festival, the National Anthem will be sung at the flagpole during the Opening Ceremony at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Grand Parade is on Saturday morning with past Harlan Days Queens as our Honorary Citizens and Grand Marshal, Glenn Marini, Sports Director at WANE-TV. The parade will begin on Spencerville Road and will end in the park.
The very popular free t-shirt drawings will happen every day of the festival so be sure to stop at the Headquarters Tent and sign up to win! Test your luck with a few Raffle Tickets for a chance to win the grand prize or one of the additional 11 awesome prizes! (*No Car for grand prize this year due to skyrocketing vehicle costs). The Woodlan High School Band will be pre-selling raffle tickets. The raffle drawing will be held at 10:30 p.m. on Saturday.
There will be all the exciting events we expect, such as great carnival rides brought to us by Huesman Amusement Company, along with new events like the 1st Annual Pickleball Tourney! Come out to the festival and check out the softball, corn hole, and volleyball tournaments, a Bingo Tent, Youth Parade, Kiddie Tractor Pull, Youth Kickball Tourney, a large Arts & Crafts Tent, a dog agility competition & a dog breed exhibit. Bring your kids to the Kid’s FREE Game Tent. The 26th Annual Cruise-In Car Show is always a big hit, too.
Make sure you stop by and grab a spot to listen to the FREE nightly live music at the Moonlight Theater! On Thursday we’ll be featuring the Graber Family Singers, Fansler Kid will be playing on Friday, and the Dan Heath and the Iconics take the stage on Saturday. Sign-up to take part in the Harlan Hustle 5K on Saturday morning and then head over to the Harlan Days Pancake Breakfast! Come hungry — because as always there will be plenty of food to choose from including the long-running Harlan Days Food Pavilion that will be serving up some delicious meals daily, along with additional food trucks serving up apple dumplings, BBQ, ice cream, cheese curds, Lion’s Club donuts, and much more!
Get to the festival early and snag a good seat in the festival arena for some great 2022 events! Thursday night we are happy to once again be hosting ‘Horse Barrel Racing’. Friday night you can join in on the arena fun with ‘Drag Racing’. For the Saturday night main event, you will NOT want to miss the much-loved fun of ‘Demo Derby Soccer’. Arena event are free for kids 5 and under and gates open at 7:00 each night; events begin at 7:30 p.m.
