ANTWERP – Carson Altimus threw for 173 yards and ran for 127 more to lead the Antwerp Archers to a 41-6 win over visiting Hicksville Friday night, September 9, 2022 in Green Meadows Conference football action.
Altimus completed 11 of 15 passes on the night, tossing four touchdown passes as the Archers moved to 4-0 overall and 1-0 in the league.
The win sets up a key matchup with Tinora, who enters the contest with a record of 3-1 overall and 1-0 in the league.
Antwerp scored twice in the first quarter, getting a three-yard Reid Lichty touchdown plunge as well as a 61-yard touchdown pass from Altimus to Landon Brewer.
The Archers extended the margin in the second quarter with 21 points in expanding the lead to 35-0 at the intermission.
Altimus found Camden Fuller on a 34-yard touchdown passes before throwing a pair of scoring strikes to Parker Moore from 12 and 11 yards.
Altimus wrapped up the Antwerp scoring with a 69-yard scamper for a score in the third quarter.
In the Archer ground game, Lichty totaled 77 yards over six carries to lead the way while Brewer topped Antwerp receivers with three catches for 101 yards.
The Archers ended the night with 416 yards of total offense compared to 135 for Hicksville.
Antwerp now makes the trip into Defiance County to battle Tinora. The winner of the contest will be tied for first at 2-0 in the league with the Ayersville-Edgerton winner.
Hicksville, which falls to 0-4 and 0-1 in the GMC, hosts Wayne Trace (1-3, 0-1) in search of its first victory.
