Attica Raceway Park hosted the two-night Ambush over Labor Day weekend. Recently, Ohio sprint driver Trevor Baker lost his life in a vehicle crash in Florida. Tim Shaffer and his car owner Bryan Grove paid tribute to Baker Friday, Sept. 2, as the hall of fame driver put the #45 in victory lane to kick off the Attica Ambush in the Winged 410 Sprint Class. It was Shaffer’s 20th career Attica win placing the four time All Star champion fifth on the all-time 410 sprint win list at the track. He led all 30 laps for the $5,000 payday, it wasn’t easy as traffic allowed Jordan Ryan to close and challenge at the half-way point before a caution on lap 18 gave Shaffer a clear track to work with. DJ Foos took 2nd and Jordon Ryan placed 3rd. The 30 lap Sunoco American Late Model Series feature was very competitive. Five cars battled for the top spot nearly the entire way before Ryan Missler secured his second win of the season at Attica, and $5,000. Devin Moran and Devin Shiels finished a close 2nd and 3rd. The 305 Sprint feature came down to the last corner of the last lap. Last week it was Kasey Jedrzejek who grabbed the win. This Friday it was veteran Paul Weaver who drove under Jedrzejek coming to the checkers to get his fourth win of the season and 68th of his career in the division. The victory was worth $1,500. Matt Foos took 2nd and Kasey Jedrzejek 3rd.

Saturday night, Attica Raceway Park said goodbye to the NRA Sprint Invader Series with a big send off. The NRA 360 Sprints will now be part of the Great Lakes Sprints Series. If you’re a fan don’t worry, the 360’s will keep racing at the same local tracks, but the traveling series will get bigger and better. The purses will increase. Major races are planned for the GLSS in Ohio, Indiana, Michigan and for the first time, Illinois. The series is based in Michigan and the promoters are excited looking towards 2023. The big winners on Saturday night included, 410 Winged-Sprint Cory Eliason, GLSS 25 lap feature winner was Cloverdale, Ohio’s Jared Horstman and Matt Foos won the 305 Sprint Feature.

Six-time Oakshade Raceway Late Model track champion, Rusty Schlenk, dominated the DIRTcar UMP Late Model feature event at Oakshade Raceway on Saturday night to earn his 3rd feature win of the season. Rounding out the top three was Colin Shipley and Devin Shiels. The Sportsmen Feature was won by Carter Murday. Stryker Ohio’s Kolin Schilt took the checker in the Dominator Stock A-main and Cory Gumm picked up his 2nd feature win of the year in the Compact Class.

Gas City I-69 Speedway got the Labor Day weekend off to a roaring start with a four-division show that saw Tye Mihocko of Peoria, Ariz., post his second 25-lap Non-wing Sprint Car feature victory of the year. Bryce Massingill of Troy, Ohio also did the double, as he won the 20-lap USAC SpeeD2 Midwest Thunder Midget feature like he did on July 29th. Derek Losh posted his 5th Modified feature victory of the season and Ken Ferman won the 15-lap Hornet main event.
