Cheryl is a passionate conservative who joined the Paulding County Republican Women as soon as she retired in March 2020 from Ft. Wayne Truck Assembly. For almost 44 years she worked in various factory positions for General Motors Corporation. Upon retirement Cheryl wasted no time diving into the thick of the club, as well as the county party activities.
During the past two years, Cheryl has helped with the 2021 Lincoln Reagan Banquet, and with three large meet-and-greets featuring Republican Senate candidates. She hosted a state school board member giving a talk about Critical Race Theory, volunteered at the local fair booth, and participated in several parades pulling a float with the help of her husband.
Cheryl serves the Paulding County Republican Party, and volunteers with the central committee, as well as being vice president of the women’s committee. She has helped with smaller meet-and-greets for individual U.S. Senate candidates as they come to Paulding County to campaign, and have helped place campaign signs in yards and near polling sites leading into the primary for one of the candidates.
In civic life, Cheryl is a board member of the Antwerp Friends of the Library and the Lutheran Military Veterans and Families Ministries (Ft. Wayne, Indiana). She helps deserving organizations obtain grants through Thrivent Financial. She coaches “Girls on the Run,” a program to help girls in grades three through five with various life events, using walking and running, as a confidence booster. Being an avid runner herself she helps with fundraisers involving walking and running races. She volunteers once a month with a local food Pantry and is a life-long Lutheran, currently attending Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church. Cheryl is a past education superintendent and Sunday School teacher, and a member of the Women’s Missionary League currently serving as the financial secretary.
A native of Wisconsin, Cheryl moved to Ohio in 1986 for work/career reasons. With her wonderful, supportive husband Joe, Cheryl has four sons Anthony, Alexander, Adrien, and Joseph, as well as eight grandchildren between ages five and 24, who live nearby. Her hobbies include travel, running, walking, family life, baking cookies to give away, growing flowers, and rescuing Monarch caterpillars to raise into butterflies.
