Archers Move to Regional Championship This Weekend!

The Antwerp Archers pulled out a win against Gibsonburg in an intense “down to the wire” football game on Saturday, November 12, 2022. 

Players were evenly matched in this high octane game. The air was filled with adrenaline  — not just the Archer players, but also by the Archer spectators as they were basking in the historical feat of being this far in the playoffs for the first time in school history! It came down to the final seconds of game till Antwerp knew if they were moving on in the playoffs. They secured that win with a final score of 35-27 as the clock ran out.

The following are the Archer stats from the game:

Passing:

Altimus – 21-33, 367 yards, 2 TD 

Receiving:

Fuller – 4 catches, 103 yards; Moore – 6 catches, 69 yards, 1 TD; Brewer – 5 catches, 121 yards, 1 TD; Winslow – 2 catches, 40 yards 

Rushing:

Lichty – 10 carries, 52 yards, 3 TD; Altimus – 10 carries, 55 yards 

Defense:

Gale – 16 tackles; Winslow – 8 tackles; Altimus – 6 tackles; Lichty – 8 tackles; Moore – 2 tackles, 1 intercept; Smith – 5 tackles, 1 intercept 

The Antwerp community has rallied around these young athletes from the beginning. This Thursday, there will be a Meet and Greet with the Archer football team at Oasis Bar & Grill. The Oasis and Jacob’s Meats will be feeding the team as well as Grant’s Catering providing dessert. Join the team at the Oasis to wish them “Good Luck” from 6:45-8:00 p.m. There will be opportunity for autographs, so bring a hat, shirt, football or program to have signed. There will also be the opportunity to get your photo taken with the players. Let the Oasis cook for you and your family Thursday night, and show your support for the Antwerp Archers football team too.

The OHSAA Division VII Region 26 Regional Championship Football game is set for Saturday, November 19, 2022 at 7:00 p.m. at Donnell Stadium, Findlay High School. If you can’t make it to the game in person, OHSAA will be live streaming it for a fee, WKSD, 99.7FM will be broadcasting live as well. Check the local eateries in Antwerp too — they may have a live stream set up to watch the game. Makin’ history Archers!
