The Antwerp Local School board meeting was held on November 17, 2022.
Dennis Recker gave the Vantage Report and stated that Vantage has quite a few positions open for instructors at the school.
Kristine Stuart presented the financial report for the last month and the entire school year:
Income: 923,791.32
Expenses: 862,658.15
INTEREST: 18406.70
The School is 32% through the fiscal year and right on track with the fiscal responsibility of the school.
Principal Lichty stated there was a great turnout for the Parent-Teacher Conference nights.
Winter sports started this week. Findlay is the destination for the football regional finals game on Saturday, November 19, 2022. The fall concerts went well this past week. Lichty stated there would be awards at the state level for some of the football players.
There was a great turnout for the Veterans Day Program. Thanksgiving Break is coming up too. The choir concert is scheduled for December 19, 2022 just before Winter Break.
Elementary principal Tracey Stokes:
The elementary students were able to talk with the veterans before the concert and that was a good experience for the kids. The third grade testing has finished and results should be in before Winter Break. The elementary concert is December 8, 2022 at 7:00 p.m. The PTO fundraiser was rewarded with donuts and rrange Juice.
Dr. Miller stated they had the Building and Grounds committee meeting. AEP will be upgrading power lines on Water Plant Drive. They will be upgraded in Summer ’23. That powers the whole football complex. Both gym roofs will also be replaced next year, as long as the materials can come in. Cyber security is one thing that Harold Gottke, Kristine Stuart, and Dr. Miller are examining for the school.
Antwerp won a “Build Your Future” $5000 grant. The EPC gave a grant for the Wellness program for $3050. A $2000 grant was received from PPEC Roundup grant fund.
The School nutrition standards update reported that Antwerp has met and exceeded those standards. 29 people came in for the Seniors breakfast. Dr. Miller spoke at the Paulding County Economic Development banquet and was well-received. Miller is going to be a featured speaker in New York City at an education summit concerning the new Innovation Center.
Stuart stated the final bond payment for the Antwerp School debt for the “new” school has been paid. The school is now debt free. She shredded the bond in front of the school board. The original bond levy was $3.2 million.
