The Antwerp High School wrestling team recently had 2 wrestlers compete in the Northwest District Wrestling Tournament on March 3-4 at Rossford High School.
One Archer grappler was able to place in the top 4 of his weight class, thus securing a spot in the OHSAA State tournament next week at the Jerome Schottenstein Center in Columbus. Senior Eli Reinhart finished 4th at 157 pounds to earn his 1st state tournament bid.
For the tournament, Reinhart finished with 4 wins and only 2 losses with 2 pins along the way. Reinhart also becomes the 3rd Archer wrestler to qualify for the state tournament. Reinhart’s state qualification comes after years of hard work and relentless dedication which has made his career at Antwerp nothing short of amazing.
Currently, Reinhart holds school records for most career wins, most career pins, most career takedowns as well as most takedowns in a season. With a win at the state tournament, he will hold the school record for wins in season as he is currently tied with Jarrett Bute at 40 wins with just 1 week to go.
Congratulations Eli for not only making it to the big dance but for your outstanding career as an Archer wrestler for the last 10 years!!!
We wish you the best and look forward to you capping off your career with an excellent state tournament. GO ELI AND GO ARCHERS!!
