Paulding County Sends Two Wrestlers to the State Tournament

Sam Moore of Wayne Trace and Eli Reinhart of Antwerp both traveled to the Schottenstein Center in Columbus to compete at the State level March 10-12. Both Moore and Reinhart are seniors at their high schools and this elite level of competition is the perfect way to complete their high school wrestling careers.

In the 157-pound weight class, Eli Reinhart exited the tunnel first and stepped onto the mat to face his opponent. Reinhart faced Ayden King of Barnesville in the first match of the day. King ultimately defeated Reinhart with a score of 10-2, sending Reinhart to the consolation bracket. In the second round, Reinhart wrestled against Jacob Starkey of South Range, losing 8-2. With a second loss, Reinhart was eliminated from the bracket. A large supporting crowd of Archers was on hand to share in the excitement of Eli’s accomplishments on the biggest platform of a high school wrestler’s career.

In the 165-pound weight class, Sam Moore exited the tunnel with his brother and coach for his first match against Hayden Buhro of Oak Harbor. Moore competed well with his opponent but lost 9-5 in the end. This sent Moore to the consolations immediately. For the second match, Moore faced Gabe Bissenbach of Sal. Southern. Sam lost to Bissenbach with a score of 4-0 in the match, ending his chance at placing at state. Sam’s family and friends were happy to support Sam at the Schott and witness his ultimate goal of qualifying for state become a reality.

Milestones have been set by both Sam and Eli in qualifying for state. Younger wrestlers have something to set their eyes on and strive to work towards. Congratulations to Sam and Eli in their accomplishments and good luck on all of your future endeavors!
