Students at Payne Elementary recently participated in Read Across America by showing their appreciation for their reading and writing skills. The week of February 27 – March 3 students were involved in various dress-up days to honor multiple Dr. Seuss books. Students also took time to write thank you notes to local businesses thanking them for their service to the community. On Dr. Seuss’s birthday, students celebrated with a Partner Read. Younger and older students were paired up to share a Dr. Seuss book. Both young and old shared their reading skills with one another. Friday we ended the week with a Book Buffet arranged by Mrs. April Krouse – Title 1 Reading teacher. Students browsed through books of various genres and levels and then were given a book of their choice. Throughout the entire week, students were sharing their love of reading and together celebrating their right to read!
