Joda Freese has been named 2023 Valedictorian of Hicksville High School with a GPA of 4.0. Her parents are Josh and Angie Freese.
After high school, Joda plans to attend the University of Tennessee and major in psychology on a pre-law track. “I chose to do this because I love the South and enjoy the study of the mind and history. Go Vols!” Freese states.
Joda participated in many extracurricular activities including National Honors Society President, 4-M, Theater, Track Stats, Foreign Language Club, Science Club, Volunteer work with Spanish-speaking adults, hostess at Two Bandits Brewing Company, Student Council Representative.
During high school she received the following recognitions and awards: Honor Roll, Student of the Quarter, Top Reading, Chemistry, and Math Student, Explore Agriculture Program (0SU) Winner, Superior in State Science Fair and district science fair winner, 4-H treasurer, vice president, and president, Hicksville Schools Foundation Scholarship recipient (2023), Franklin B. Walter Scholarship (2023), Rotary Scholarship (2023)
Outside of school she loves to read, go to the gym, help at the community theater, babysit and dog sit. Joda also loves spending time in local coffee shops, traveling, and going to art museums.
When asked about her most memorable high school experience, she staed, “My most memorable high school experience was anytime I was in a student section at a sporting event, as well as being a stage manager for Into The Woods my senior year.”
Lynae Poling has been named 2023 Valedictorian of Hicksville High School with a 4.0 GPA. Her parents are Greg and Laura Poling.
After high school Lynae plans to continue working in a salon and as a beauty consultant with Mary Kay. She loves helping people feel more confident and beautiful with themselves.
Lynae’s extracurricular activities include Varsity volleyball; School musicals; SKILLS USA Leader @ FCCC; Student Ambassador @ FCCC; Worship team at church. She also earned the following awards and recognitions: National Technical Honor Society; Valedictorian; Scholar Athlete
Lynae enjoys sewing, painting, building legos, going to the movies, being with friends and family, and learning how to crochet outside of school.
Her most memorable high school experience was competing in the State competition for SKILLS USA and earning second place in the barbering competition; Helping my volleyball team to be the first ever Hicksville varsity team earn the title of District Champs.”
Alaina Stuckey has been named 2023 Salutatorian of Hicksville High School with a 3.99 GPA. Her parents are Kevin and Beth Stuckey.
Alaina plans to attend The Ohio State University to study Business and Marketing. “I have chosen this path because over the past few years, it has become more evident to me what my future might hold. Because of my experiences at work and through leadership in my small town, I have a better grasp of my goals and dreams. I love marketing and reaching people with social media and emails and have no doubt that it is one of my passions. Using my passion for business, while helping others out is something that I want to do one day,” stated Stuckey.
During high school Alaina was involved in Varsity cheerleading as a captain, track and field and volleyball, National Honor Society, Student Council, and High School Officer Worker. Outside of school she is involved in Hicksville Herdsmen 4-H Club, as a President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, and Safety Officer. She earned the Ohio State’s Maximus Scholarship.
Outside of school, Alaina loves spending time with family and friends. She works for The Rooted Shoppe Boutique doing their social media accounts and is a scanner at The Jim Schmidt Ford Dealership. She also spends time volunteering at The First Church of Christ running the media and slideshow.
She had this to say when asked about her most memorable high school experience, “Freshman year, my cheerleading squad went all the way to State and we won the Non-Tumbling Division. This was huge being a freshman and bonding with our group. We had never done it before, and it was a honor to accomplish our biggest goal and win State.”
